Service Lubrication

Grease

IMPORTANT: Avoid damage! Use recommended John Deere greases to avoid component failure and premature wear.

The recommended John Deere greases are effective within an average air temperature range of -29 to 135 degrees C (-20 to 275 degrees F).

If operating outside that temperature range, contact your Servicing dealer for a special-use grease.


The following grease is preferred:

· John Deere Moly High Temperature EP Grease

If not using the preferred grease, be sure to use a general all-purpose grease with an NLGI grade No.2 rating.

Wet or high speed conditions may require use of a special-use grease. Contact your Servicing dealer for information.

Lubricating Front Axle Grease Fittings

IMPORTANT: Avoid damage! Lubricate sealed front axle grease fittings only at the recommended service interval. Too much grease will cause the rubber boot installed on each axle pivot to burst.

1. Lubricate left tie rod end grease fitting (A) and left steering cylinder ball joint grease fitting (B).

2. Lubricate right tie rod end grease fitting (A) and right steering cylinder ball joint grease fitting (B).

Lubricating Loader and Loader Boom

1. Lubricate pivot grease fittings (A) on each side of the boom.

2. Lubricate pivot grease fittings (C) on each side of boom.

3. Lubricate anti-rollback linkage grease fittings (D) on left side of boom.

4. Lubricate pivot grease fittings (E) on each side of loader.

5. Lubricate anti-rollback linkage grease fitting (F).

Lubricate Optional Loader Multi-Purpose Bucket Pivots



· Lubricate grease fittings (A) on each end of bucket.

Lubricating Backhoe Linkage, Pivots, and Cylinder Rod Ends

NOTE: Cylinder grease fitting (E) is easier to access if boom is swung fully left or right.

1. Lubricate pivot grease fittings (C) on each side of backhoe.

2. Lubricate pivot grease fittings (D) and (E).

3. Lubricate pivot grease fittings (F) on each side of dipperstick.

4. Lubricate pivot grease fittings (G).

5. Lubricate pivot grease fittings (H).

Lubricate Backhoe Stabilizers

· Lubricate pivot grease fittings (A) and (B) on each stabilizer.

Lubricating 3-Point Hitch

· Lubricate grease fittings (A).
