Storing Safety
c CAUTION: Avoid injury! Engine exhaust fumes can cause sickness or death.
· If it is necessary to run an engine in an enclosed area, use an exhaust pipe extension to remove the fumes. Always try to work in a well ventilated area.
· DO NOT store vehicle with fuel in the tank inside a building where fumes may reach an open flame or spark.
· Allow engine to cool before storing in any enclosure.
· Remove the battery and store it in a cool dry place where it will not freeze, and where children cannot reach it.

Storing The Front Mower
c CAUTION: Avoid injury!
Fuel is highly flammable. Do not smoke while you service the fuel system. Wipe up spilled fuel immediately.
|
IMPORTANT: Avoid damage! Use gasoline stabilizer: it helps prevent varnishing and plugging of carburetor jets. Either of these could cause the engine to run lean, and result in piston seizure and engine failure. Follow the directions on the stabilizer can.
|
1. Use John Deere Gasoline Storage Stabilizer or an equivalent to prepare your Front Mower for storage. Follow the directions on the stabilizer can.
2. Repair worn or damaged parts. Install new parts, if necessary.
3. Service the air cleaner.
4. Lubricate all grease points.
5. Clean the Front Mower.
6. Apply paint to areas that need it to prevent rust.
7. Service the battery:
· Remove it.
· Clean it.
· Check the electrolyte level.
· Charge the battery, if necessary.
· Store it in a cool, dry place.
8. Store the Front Mower in a dry, protected place. If you store the Front Mower outside, put a waterproof cover over it.
9. Do not store the Front Mower with fuel in the tank in a building where fumes may reach an open flame or spark.
10. Put blocks or stands under the Front Mower to take weight off the tires. You may need to let one-third of air out of the tires.
