Assembly


Connect the Battery

c CAUTION: Avoid injury!

Prevent Battery Explosions:

· Keep sparks, lighted matches, and open flame away from the top of battery. Battery gas can explode.

· Never check battery charge by placing a metal object across the posts. Use a volt-meter or hydrometer.

· Do not charge a frozen battery; it may explode. Warm battery to 16 degrees C (60 degrees F).

IMPORTANT: Avoid damage! This battery comes fully charged.
If the mower is not used by the Service Expiration Date indicated on the battery, charge the battery. (See Charging the Battery in the Service - Electrical section.)


1. Remove and discard the RED positive (+) protective cap from the positive (+) battery terminal.

c CAUTION: Avoid injury! DO NOT attempt to open, add fluid or service battery. Any attempt to do so will void warranty and lead to possible injury.

NOTE: Do not remove the BLACK negative (-) protective cap at this time.

2. Connect RED positive (+) cable (A) to battery. Apply petroleum jelly or silicone spray to terminal to prevent corrosion. Make sure connection is tight. Install the red terminal cover.

3. Remove and discard the BLACK (-) protective cap from the negative battery terminal.

IMPORTANT: Avoid damage! Make sure negative (-) Black battery cable (B) is routed under rod (C) as shown.

4. Connect black negative (-) cable (B) to battery. Apply petroleum jelly or silicone spray to terminal to prevent corrosion. Make sure connection is tight.

Install the Steering Wheel

NOTE: When installing washers on steering wheel shaft, make sure larger washer(s) are put on shaft first.

IMPORTANT: Avoid damage! Support bottom of steering shaft with block of wood or steering shaft will fall out of frame.


1. Put wheels in straight-forward position.

2. Remove cotter pin (A).

3. Put steering wheel (B) on shaft.

4. Insert shoulder bolt (C).

5. Check for steering wheel shaft end play. If steering wheel is too tight:

· Remove shoulder bolt (C).

· Pull steering wheel (B) off of shaft.

· Remove washer(s) as required.

6. Install steering wheel on shaft.

7. Insert shoulder bolt.

8. Install washer and lock nut (D).

9. Tighten nut.
