Assemble Cart

When assembling cart, do the following

· Place pieces of carton under cart box to help avoid scratching finish.

· Put all bolt heads to the inside of the cart box.

· Remove the protective covering from the side decals.

Assemble Cart Halves

1. Stand cart halves on one end with flanges flush together.

2. Assemble cart halves:

· 10S - Place two 5/16 x 1/2 in. round head screws (A) through holes in flange. Install two 5/16 in. nylon insert nuts on screws. Do not tighten.

· 16S - Place three 5/16 x 1/2 in. round head screws (A) through holes in flange. Install three 5/16 in. nylon insert nuts on screws. Do not tighten.

NOTE: Place support channel on end of cart that has model number closest to it. John Deere portion of decal should be toward drawbar end of cart.

3. Attach support channel (B) to end of cart box.

NOTE: Leave two slotted holes (C) in the cart box open.

4. Install flat head screws, special washers, and nylon insert nuts.

· 10S - Place eight 5/16 x 3/4 in. flat head screws (D) through support channel and cart box. Install eight special washers and eight 5/16 in. nylon nuts on screws. Do not tighten.

· 16S - Place ten 5/16 x 3/4 in. flat head screws (D) through support channel and cart box. Install ten special washers and ten 5/16 in. nylon nuts on screws. Do not tighten.

Install Axle Support

1. Place axle support (A) on cart box.

2. Install eight 5/16 x 3/4 in. flat head screws from inside cart box, eight 5/8 in. flat washers (B) (between bracket and cart box), and eight 5/16 in. nylon insert nuts.(C).

3. Tighten nuts.

Install Lock Bracket and End Panel

1. Place one end panel (A) inside cart box with flanges pointing down.

2. Align holes in sides of end panel with holes in sides of cart box:

· 10S - Align four holes in the sides of end panel with four holes in the sides of the cart box. Install four 5/16 x 1/2 in. round head screws (from inside the cart box) and four 5/16 in. nylon insert nuts (B).

· 16S - Align six holes in sides of end panel with six holes in the sides of cart box. Install six 5/16 x 1/2 in. round head screws (from inside the cart box) and six 5/16 in. nylon insert nuts (B). Do not tighten.

3. Insert two 5/16 in. lock washers inside the recessed notches, between end panel and the cart box.

NOTE: Ensure lock washers remain inside the recessed notches.

4. Insert two 5/16 x 1 in. round head screws through end panel (from inside end panel), lock washers, and cart box.

NOTE: Make sure notch on lock bracket is facing to the front of the cart box.

5. Install lock bracket (C) on the two 5/16 x 1 in. round head screws and secure in place with two 5/16 in. nylon insert nuts (D). Do not tighten.

6. Install four 5/16 x 1/2 in. round head screws into the remaining holes in the bottom side of end panel and through the cart box (from inside cart box). Place four 5/16 in. nylon insert nuts on the screws (E). Do not tighten.

NOTE: Tighten all flat head screws until the screw heads are flush with the cart box surface.

7. To ensure a level cart, place cart box upside down on a flat surface and tighten all fasteners.

Install Cart Drawbar and Axle

1. Place drawbar (A) on axle support (B) and lock bracket (C).

2. Slide axle (D) through axle support and drawbar.

Assemble Cart Lock Bar

1. Place lock bar (A) through slot in drawbar with notch in lock bar (B) to rear of cart.

2. Place spacers (C) and spring (D) in drawbar as shown.

3. Lift each leg of the spring over the side of the drawbar.

NOTE: Pull up on lock bar while installing bolt. This will help to align the bolt with the hole on the other side of the drawbar.

4. Install 3/8 x 3 1/2 in. hex head bolt (E) through the spacers. Secure with 3/8 in. hex lock nut (F) so lock bar moves forward and backward freely.

Install Cart Wheels

1. Slide one spacer (A) and one flat washer (B) on axle.

NOTE: Put a dab of grease on each end of axle, before installing wheels. This will make installing wheels on axle easier.

2. Put one wheel (B) (valve stem to the outside) on axle.

3. Put one large flat washer (C) and one E-ring (D) on axle.

4. Repeat steps for other wheel.

5. Inflate tires to correct tire pressure.

6. Grease wheel bearings with John Deere multipurpose grease or an equivalent.

Install Tailgate Retainer Pins

1. Install two tailgate retainer pins (A) through the recessed holes in the bottom of the tailgate.

2. Install two 5/16 in. nylon insert nuts (B) on retainer pins.

3. Tighten nuts.

4. Repeat for the other side.

Install Tailgate Lock Brackets

1. Put one tailgate lock bracket (A) on top of tailgate.

2. Install two 1/4 x 1/2 in. round head screws (B) through tailgate pin and tailgate.

3. Install two 1/4 in. nylon insert nuts on round head screws.

4. Do not tighten.

5. Repeat for the other side.

Install Tailgate On Cart Box

1. Align the tailgate retainer pins (A) with the matching holes (B) in the cart box.

2. Lower the tailgate and insert the tailgate lock brackets (C) in the slots (D) on top of the cart box.

Install Clevis

1. Place clevis (A) on cart drawbar.

2. Install two 5/16 x 1 in. round head bolts (B) through clevis and cart drawbar.

3. Fasten with two lock nuts.

4. Tighten nuts.
