Service Intervals


Servicing Your Machine

IMPORTANT: Avoid damage! Operating in extreme conditions may require more frequent service intervals:

· Engine components may become dirty or plugged when operating in extreme heat, dust or other severe conditions.

· Engine oil may lose efficiency if vehicle is operated constantly at slow or low engine speeds or with frequent short trips.


Please use the following timetables to perform routine maintenance on your machine.

Initial Break-In

After First 5 Hours of Operation

· Check/tighten wheel bolts.

After First 20 Hours of Operation

· Check/tighten wheel bolts.

· Check/tighten loose hardware.

· Change engine oil and filter (model GX335).

After First 50 Hours of Operation

· Check/tighten wheel bolts.

· Change transmission oil and filter.

· Change hydraulic oil filter.

· Change engine oil only (model GX335).

· Change engine oil and filter (model GX345).

After First 100 Hours of Operation

· Change engine oil and filter (all models).

Every 50 Hours

· Check tire pressure.

· Check transmission oil level.

· Lubricate front wheel spindles and axle pivot.

· Lubricate mower gage wheels.

· Lubricate mower blade spindles.

· Check and clean air cleaner element.

· Check/tighten wheel bolts.

Every 100 Hours or Annually (whichever comes first)

· Check/tighten loose hardware.

· Check battery electrolyte level.

· Clean battery.

· Check radiator hoses and clamps (model GX345).

· Check and clean air cleaner element.

· Change engine oil only (model GX335).

· Inspect spark plugs and check gap.

Every 200 Hours or Annually (whichever comes first)

· Change engine oil and filter (all models).

Every 200 Hours or Two Years (whichever comes first)

· Replace fuel filter.

· Change radiator coolant (model GX345).

· Check radiator hoses and clamps (model GX345).

Every 250 Hours

· Change transmission oil and filter.

· Change hydraulic oil filter.

Every 500 Hours or Two Years (whichever comes first)

· Change engine coolant (model GX345)

Every 500 Hours

NOTE: See your John Deere dealer for these services.

· Check engine idle speeds.

· Check carburetor adjustment.

· Check and adjust valve clearance.

· Check fuel lines.
