Operating
Raising and Lowering Blade
Models with Foot Pedal
MX35646
1. To lower blade, push down slightly on foot pedal (A) and push down on lock lever (B) to unlock latch. Pull foot pedal towards rear of machine to lowered position, and pull up on lock lever to lock blade into lowered position.
2. To raise blade, pull up slightly on foot pedal (A) and push down on lock lever (B) to unlock latch; push foot pedal all the way down (towards front of machine), and pull up on lock lever to lock blade into raised position.
Models with Hydraulic Lift
MX35646a
1. Push lever (A) down to lower blade.
2. Pull lever up to raise blade.
Releasing Blade from Tripped Position
M39236
c CAUTION: Avoid injury! Do not put hands between blade and mounting bracket to remove objects. Always use a safe tool to remove an object.
Blade may cause injury when it snaps back to normal position after object is removed. Stand in front of the blade to remove the object.
|
• Keep hands, feet and clothing away from blade.
• Keep clear of blade. Pry objects from between blade and blade support with a safe tool.
Adjusting Blade Lift
1. Lower blade.
2. Park machine safely. (See Parking Safely in the SAFETY section.)
MX35659
3. Remove front locking ring and 10 x 28 mm drilled pin (A), and remove front of outer lift rod (B) from front attachment hitch bracket (C).
4. Loosen nut (D) and turn end of outer lift rod clockwise to gain lift height, and counterclockwise to reduce lift height. Tighten nut (D).
5. Install front of lift rod with drilled pin and locking ring.
6. Lift blade to check adjustment.
7. Repeat above steps, if necessary.
Adjusting Skid Shoes
NOTE: Each Skid Shoe MUST be set at the same height.
FOR LEVELING OR CLEARING:
Lower each skid shoe to help prevent gouging.
FOR DIGGING:
Raise each skid shoe to lower working height of blade.
1. Park machine safely but do not lower blade. (See Parking Safely in the SAFETY section.)
M92940
2. Remove spring locking pin and drilled pin (A) on both skid shoes.
3. Move each skid shoe (B) to desired position.
4. Install drilled pin and fasten with spring locking pin.
Adjusting Lift Pedal Spring Tension
1. Lower blade.
2. Park machine safely. (See Parking Safely in the SAFETY section.)
MX35661
• Be sure lift spring adjustment bar is set to 48 blade setting (A). Adjust tension by rotating adjusting bolt (B) (in right front frame tunnel) clockwise to increase tension, and counterclockwise to decrease tension.
• If blade’s lift effort is too high, increase spring tension by rotating adjusting bolt (B) (in right front frame tunnel) clockwise to increase tension, and counterclockwise to decrease tension. Note, however, too much spring tension may cause blade to “float” along surface being bladed.
Adjusting Blade Angle
Put blade at an angle:
• When clearing snow or light material.
• To decrease amount of power to move material.
• To decrease rear wheel slippage.
Blade can be locked in five positions:
• Straight
• Left 15° or 30°
• Right 15° or 30°
To adjust blade angle:
1. Raise blade.
2. Park machine safely, but do not lower blade. (See Parking Safely in the SAFETY section.)
MX35660
3. Raise lever (A).
4. Move blade to desired position and release lever. Move blade until it locks.
Using Spring Trip
c CAUTION: Avoid injury! Hitting an obstruction with latch pin LOCKED may damage blade and injure operator. Drive slow when you use blade with latch pin LOCKED.
|
FOR NORMAL OPERATION:
MX35656
M58956
• Put latch pin (A) in the UNLOCKED position (B).
FOR DIGGING OR SPECIAL OPERATION:
• Put latch pin (A) in the LOCKED position (C).
Operating Tips
c CAUTION: Avoid injury! Do not use blade as a battering ram. Do not operate at high speed. Hitting a solid object at high speed can injure operator and damage blade.
|
1. Operate blade at slow travel speed.
2. This is a light material blade. Blade is not intended to move large amounts of heavy material. Use common sense when you move material.
3. Operate engine at full throttle for best performance.
4. If blade penetrates too much:
• Raise blade.
• Adjust height of skid shoes.
5. Angle blade to left or right:
• To clear material by moving it to the side.
• To clear and level at same time.
• To clear snow or light material.
• To lessen power needed to move material.
• To lessen rear wheel slip.
6. Use blade in straight-across position:
• To move material straight ahead.
• For light leveling.
7. To remove wet material - snow or slush - from a hard surface, install optional rubber squeegee. (See your John Deere dealer.)
8. After you are finished using blade:
• Park machine safely. (See Parking Safely in the SAFETY section.)
• Clean blade with water under pressure.
Transporting
c CAUTION: Avoid injury! Use extra care when loading or unloading the machine into a trailer or truck.
Close fuel shut-off valve, if your machine is equipped.
|
IMPORTANT: Avoid damage! Always lower attachment to trailer deck when transporting.
|
1. Drive machine and attachment onto heavy-duty trailer equipped with lights and signage required by law.
2. Lower attachment to trailer deck.
3. Stop engine.
4. Lock park brake.
5. Fasten machine and attachment to deck with straps, chains, or cables.
