Using Troubleshooting Chart

If you are experiencing a problem that is not listed in this chart, see your John Deere dealer for service.

When you have checked all the possible causes listed and you are still experiencing the problem, see your John Deere dealer.

Tiller Is Noisy

Tines are bent or damaged.

Rocks in tilling area.

Tiller Will Not Work

Belts broken.

Tiller Operates Erratically

Trash caught in tines.

Speed too fast or erratic.

Belts loose.

Tines damaged.

Belt Slipping

Debris in sheave.

Worn belt.

Tiller Loads Down The Machine

Engine RPM too low.

Tiller Is Too Hard Too Lift

Lift spring tension too low.

Tiller Does Not Stay Down

Lift spring tension too high.

The Lift Lever Is Too Hard To Lower And Lockout

Lift spring tension too high.
