Installing


Park Machine Safely

1. Stop machine on a level surface, not on a slope.

2. Disengage Power Take-Off (PTO).

3. Lower attachments to the ground.

4. Lock the park brake.

5. Stop the engine.

6. Remove the key.

7. Wait for engine and all moving parts to stop before you leave the operator’s seat.

8. Close fuel shut-off valve, if your machine is equipped.

Installing Proper Ballast

c CAUTION: Avoid injury! Operating with a grasscatcher or other attachment can affect stability on a slope. Use front weights on your tractor if necessary

When the attachment is removed, also remove any ballast that was added to the machine.

Use only attachments and accessories recommended by the manufacturer.

NOTE: Ballast is extra weight that can be added to the machine to provide additional stability. Typical ballast for your machine may be wheel weights or suitcase weights. See your authorized service center for recommended weights on your machine.

Install the proper front ballast to help counter-balance the total weight of the bagger. Remove ballast when the bagger is removed. This will ensure proper operation of the machine when not bagging.

Install Mounting Frames for the X300/X500 Select Series

X500 Select Series Tractors: Use hole (D).

X300 Select Series: Use hole (E).

NOTE: For easier installation, always secure receiver frame to machine before installing H-frame.

Install two M12 x 50 bolts (A) and spacers (B) at specified hole in rear frame for your tractor model. Secure with M12 locknuts (C). Tighten nuts completely.

1. Position notched end of side mounting bracket (F) over spacers (B).

2. From inside of rear frame, install two 16mm clevis pins (G) through holes in bracket. Secure with M13x24x2.5 flat washers (H) and two thick spring locking pins (I).

3. Position receiver frame (J) between side mounting brackets so angle (K) is at right side of tractor. Secure receiver to brackets with four M10 x 25 bolts (H) and M10 nuts (M). Do not tighten completely.

• Use slots (N) when installing bagger on a X500 Select Series tractor

• Use Slots (O) when installing bagger on a LX, GT or GX tractor and X300 Series Select tractor.

4. Place H-frame (S) into receiver frame and install 19mm clevis pin (T) through hole in hitch plate. Secure with large spring locking pin (P).

5. Align holes in H-frame with holes in receiver frame. Install bagger pin (Q) and secure with thin spring locking pin (R).

6. Tighten M10 hardware (L) completely on both sides of receiver frame to secure the side mounting brackets.

Install Hopper

1. Align hopper support tubes (A) with H-frame (B). Set hopper assembly onto H-frame.

2. Secure hopper assembly to H-frame with two M8 x 45 bolts (C) and M8 locknuts (D). Tighten hardware completely.

3. Open hopper cover.

4. Remove pre assembled hardware (E) from hopper center frame support.

5. Put two M10.5 x 30 x 2.5 flat washers (G) onto gusset rod.

6. Insert threaded end of gusset rod (F) through hole in H-frame. Secure with M10 locknut (H).

7. Align other end of rod with hole in hopper center frame support. Reinstall and tighten hardware.

Install Upper Chute

1. Insert upper chute (A) through opening in hopper case. Align mounting holes.

NOTE: Due to material thickness, it is suggested that the M6 x 50 bolt (C) be installed from the inside, with the M6 locknut to the outside

2. Install three M6x25 bolts (B) and one M6x40 bolt (C).

IMPORTANT: Avoid damage! Do not overtighten locknuts. Excessive torque will cause bolt heads to pull through upper chute.

3. Install M6 locknuts (D) onto bolts. Tighten locknuts until upper chute fits snug against hopper case.

Install Bags

1. Position left bag under retainer (A) and insert clip (B) into groove in hopper center frame support.

2. Position right bag under upper chute (C) and insert clip (D) into slot in hopper center frame support.

NOTE: Cover may be difficult to latch when unit is new. If necessary, see Adjusting Hopper Latch in the SERVICE section of your bagger Operator’s Manual.

3. Close hopper cover and ensure latch is engaged.

Install Cut-N-Throw Bagger Chute

38-Inch Mower Decks

1. Insert round end of bagger chute (A) into upper chute (B) at hopper assembly.

2. Lift up discharge chute at mower deck and fit bagger chute opening over mower deck discharge chute. Make sure discharge chute is properly hooked at back side of discharge opening (C).

3. Place retaining strap (D) over tab (E).

4. Slide adjusting hardware (F) against tab (E). Adjust hardware, if necessary, to secure the attachment.

5. Secure rubber strap hook (G) through hole in tab (E).

42C Mower Decks

Lower Chute Installation

NOTE: The mulch plate, if installed, must be removed before installing the bagger discharge chute.

1. Raise and hold plastic discharge chute on mower deck.

NOTE: To raise inner metal deflector, pull outward at rear of deflector then pull up.

2. Raise inner metal deflector, and position lower bagger discharge chute in front of mower deck discharge opening.

c CAUTION: Avoid injury! Prevent possible thrown objects. The discharge chute assembly must fit tight against the chute hinge bracket and completely cover the mower deck discharge opening.

NOTE: Bagger discharge chute must fit on the outside of the mower deck discharge opening.

3. At the front of the discharge opening, slide pin (A) through hole (B) in gage wheel bracket.

4. Hook front rubber strap hook (C) over the top of the gage wheel bracket and insert through hole (D).

NOTE: If your mower deck does not have the 12.7 mm (1/2 in.) hole (B) in gage wheel bracket, cut out and use template below to mark and drill a 12.7 mm (1/2 in.) hole (B) into gage wheel bracket. This hole is necessary to mount the front of the discharge chute.

5. Rotate rear side of lower discharge chute toward mower deck, and insert rear strap hook (E) on discharge chute into slot (F) on deck.

Upper Chute Installation

1. Slide top (A) of upper discharge chute into flexible chute (B) of hopper assembly.

2. Slide bottom (C) of upper discharge chute over top (D) of lower chute, aligning notch (E) with bolt (F).

3. Hook rubber strap latch (G) on to bolt (F) in lower chute.

NOTE: If bagging performance is not acceptable, purchase AM136660 lip kit.

Install Power Flow Chute

1. Insert round end of power flow chute (A) into upper chute (B) at hopper assembly. Guide chute into opening far enough to provide clearance for connection to the Power Flow.

2. Lift and hold open exhaust door (C) on the Power Flow,

3. Slide chute completely onto blower outlet.

4. Secure strap hook (D) to loop on Power Flow.

5. Close and latch the hopper lid.
