Raising and Lowering Blade

Raising Blade:

1. Push and hold lift pedal (A) down.

2. Pull lift lever (B) up to lock blade in the transport position.

3. Release lift pedal. Pedal should stay down and lift lever should stay locked.

Lowering Blade:

1. Push and hold lift pedal down.

2. Push lift lever down to unlock.

3. Release lift pedal to lower blade to the ground.

Adjusting Lift Pedal Spring Tension

• Be sure lift spring adjustment bar is set to 44 blade setting (A). Adjust tension by rotating adjusting bolt (B) (in right front frame tunnel) clockwise to increase tension, and counterclockwise to decrease tension.

• If blade’s lift effort is too high, increase spring tension by rotating adjusting bolt (B) (in right front frame tunnel) clockwise to increase tension, and counterclockwise to decrease tension. Too much spring tension may cause blade to “float” along surface being bladed.

Adjusting Skid Shoes

1. Park machine safely but do not lower blade. (See Parking Safely in the SAFETY section.)

NOTE: Make sure each skid shoe is adjusted to same height.

2. Remove spring locking pin (A) and drilled pin (B) from shoe.

3. Move shoe to desired position.

4. Install drilled pin and fasten with spring locking pin.

5. Adjust skid shoes.

• Seven positions 6 mm (1/4 in.) apart from each other.

• One 13 mm (1/2 in.) adjustment.

6. Repeat above steps to adjust other shoe.

Adjusting Blade Angle

Put blade at an angle:

• When clearing snow or light material.

• To decrease amount of power to move material.

• To decrease rear wheel slippage.

There are three blade positions:

• Straight across.

• 25° to the left.

• 25° to the right.

To adjust blade angle:

1. Lift blade.

2. Park machine safely but do not lower blade. (See Parking Safely in the SAFETY section.)

3. Pull lock pin (A).

4. Move blade to desired angle.

• Use center hole to move material straight across.

• Use hole (B) to move material to the left.

• Use hole (C) to move material to the right.

5. Install lock pin.

Adjusting Blade Lift

1. Park machine safely. (See Parking Safely in the SAFETY section.)

c CAUTION: Avoid injury! Lift pedal is spring-assisted and may have unexpected movement. Lock lift pedal when installing or removing attachment.

2. Pull lift pedal back by hand to lower attachment to the lower/down position. Pull lock lever up to lock blade in the lowered position.

3. Remove front 10 x 28 mm drilled pin (A) and locking ring; remove front of outer lift rod (B) from lift lever bracket (C).

4. Loosen nut (D) and turn end of outer lift rod clockwise to gain lift height, and counterclockwise to reduce lift height. Tighten nut (D).

5. Install front of lift rod with drilled pin and locking ring.

6. Lift blade to check adjustment.

7. Repeat above steps, if necessary.

Using Blade for Leveling or Clearing

c CAUTION: Avoid injury! Do not use blade as a battering ram. Do not operate at high speed. Hitting a solid object at high speed can injure operator and damage blade.

1. Lock blade in the raised position.

2. Set height control knob (A) to 25 mm (1 in.).

3. Adjust blade angle.

4. Adjust skid shoes for desired blade edge penetration.

NOTE: Always operate engine at full throttle for best engine performance and blading results.

5. Move throttle lever to the fast position.

6. Lower blade.

7. Move tractor forward at a safe travel speed.

8. Adjust height of skid shoes if blade penetrates too much.

Operating Tips

c CAUTION: Avoid injury! Do not use blade as a battering ram. Do not operate at high speed. Hitting a solid object at high speed can injure operator and damage blade.

1. Operate blade at slow travel speed.

2. This is a light material blade. Blade is not intended to move large amounts of heavy material. Use common sense when you move material.

3. Operate engine at full throttle for best performance.

4. If blade penetrates too much:

• Raise blade.

• Adjust height of skid shoes.

5. Angle blade to left or right:

• To clear material by moving it to the side.

• To clear and level at same time.

• To clear snow or light material.

• To lessen power needed to move material.

• To lessen rear wheel slip.

6. Use blade in straight-across position:

• To move material straight ahead.

• For light leveling.

7. To remove wet material - snow or slush - from a hard surface, install optional rubber squeegee. (See your John Deere dealer.)

8. After you are finished using blade:

• Park machine safely. (See Parking Safely in the SAFETY section.)

• Clean blade with water under pressure.

Transporting

c CAUTION: Avoid injury! Use extra care when loading or unloading the machine into a trailer or truck. Close fuel shut-off valve, if your machine is equipped.

1. Drive machine and attachment onto heavy-duty trailer equipped with lights and signage required by law.

2. Lower attachment to trailer deck.

3. Stop engine.

4. Lock park brake.

5. Fasten machine and attachment to deck with straps, chains, or cables.
