Service Lubrication

Grease

The following greases are preferred:

Chassis and Rollers

· John Deere Special Purpose HD Water Resistant Grease.

· John Deere Multi-Purpose HD Lithium Complex Grease.

Cutting Units

· John Deere Cotton Picker Spindle Grease.

· John Deere Cornhead Grease.

Other greases that can be used:

· SAE Multi-Purpose EP Grease with 3 to 5 percent molybdenum disulfide.

· SAE Multi-Purpose EP Grease.

Lubricating Greensmower

c CAUTION: Avoid injury! Blades are sharp and rotate quickly: · Keeps hands and feet away from cutting reels while machine is running. · Always wear gloves while working on cutting reels. · Watch for rotation of cutting reels. Rotating one cutting reel can cause another blade or cutting reel to rotate.

NOTE: DO NOT over-lubricate. Excess grease could fall to grass from mower during operation.

Clean grease fitting before lubricating. Replace missing or broken grease fittings immediately.

Lubricate Rear Steering Wheel

1. Lubricate the rear axle pivot spindle grease fitting (A) with John Deere Special Purpose HD Water Resistant Grease or John Deere Multi-Purpose HD Lithium Complex Grease.

2. Lubricate rear wheel bearings grease fitting (B) with John Deere Multi-Purpose HD Lithium Complex Grease.

Lubricate Neutral Eccentric

1. Secure operator seat in the open position.

2. Lubricate neutral eccentric grease fitting (A) with John Deere Multi-Purpose HD Lithium Complex Grease.

Lubricate Front Lift Arm Pivots

NOTE: Pivot must be lubricated until grease starts to appear on back side of pivots.

1. Lubricate right and left lift arm pivot grease fittings (A) with John Deere Special Purpose HD Water Resistant Grease or John Deere Multi-Purpose HD Lithium Complex Grease.

Lubricate Center Lift Arm Pivot

NOTE: Pivot must be lubricated until grease starts to appear on end of pivot.

1. Lubricate center lift arm pivot grease fitting (A) with John Deere Special Purpose HD Water Resistant Grease or John Deere Multi-Purpose HD Lithium Complex Grease.

Lubricating Cutting Units

1. Lubricate yoke pivot grease fitting (A) with John Deere Special Purpose HD Water Resistant Grease or John Deere Multi-Purpose HD Lithium Complex Grease.

2. Lubricate reel roller bearing grease fittings (B) on both ends with John Deere Special Purpose HD Cornhead Grease.

3. Lubricate front roller grease fittings (C) on both ends with John Deere Special Purpose HD Water Resistant Grease or John Deere Multi-Purpose HD Lithium Complex Grease.

4. Repeat procedure for other cutting units.

5. Lubricate rear roller grease fittings (D) with John Deere Special Purpose HD Water Resistant Grease or John Deere Multi-Purpose HD Lithium Complex Grease.

6. Repeat procedure for other cutting units.

Lubricating Greens and Turf Conditioner Reel

1. Lubricate GTC grease fittings (A) with John Deere Special Purpose HD Water Resistant Grease or John Deere Multi-Purpose HD Lithium Complex Grease.

2. Repeat procedure for other cutting units.

Lubricating Rear Roller Powered Brush

1. Lubricate both brush grease fittings (A) with John Deere Special Purpose HD Water Resistant Grease or John Deere Multi-Purpose HD Lithium Complex Grease.

2. Repeat procedure for other cutting units.
