Removing Backhoe

c CAUTION: Avoid injury! Keep people away from tractor while removing backhoe. Run engine just above slow idle to keep tractor movements slow and controllable.

1. Park tractor safely on a flat level surface.

2. Start engine and run at slow idle.

3. While standing at location (A) (between backhoe stabilizer and boom), lower stabilizers to the ground.

MX24248

4. Center boom and install swing lock pin (B) if not installed.

5. Remove boom locking pin (C) if installed.

6. Extend dipperstick and lower boom.

7. Rotate bucket until top edge (D) is parallel with ground.

MX24249

9. Remove lockpins from pins (E) and remove pins (E) from backhoe.

10. Run tractor at slow idle.

11. Use backhoe controls to disengage backhoe from tractor.

a. Use boom control lever to rotate backhoe rearward slightly.

b. Use stabilizer control levers to raise notches in backhoe mainframe above hooks in tractor mounts.

c. Drive tractor ahead slowly until notches clear hooks.

d. Use stabilizer control levers to lower backhoe until mainframe is resting on ground.

12. Lock tractor park brake.

13. Stop engine.

14. Cycle boom control lever to relieve backhoe system pressure.

c CAUTION: Avoid injury! Escaping fluid under pressure can penetrate the skin causing serious injury. Relieve hydraulic system pressure by moving hydraulic controls in all directions before connecting or disconnecting hydraulic lines.

15. Disconnect hydraulic hoses:

a. Place oil absorbent towel below couplers to keep oil from getting on deck.

b. Disconnect backhoe hoses from tractor Power Beyond.

Storing Safety

c CAUTION: Avoid injury! Fuel vapors are explosive and flammable. Engine exhaust fumes contain carbon monoxide and can cause serious illness or death:

Run the engine only long enough to move the machine to or from storage.

Machine fires and structure fires can occur if a machine is stored before allowing it to cool, or if debris is not removed from around the engine and muffler, or if stored near combustible materials.

Do not store vehicle with fuel in the tank inside a building where fumes may reach an open flame or spark.

Allow the engine to cool before storing the machine in any enclosure.

Storing

1. Position boards under bucket and backhoe frame to prevent corrosion.

2. Store backhoe in clean, dry place.

3. Keep hydraulic hoses off ground and not kinked.

4. Clean backhoe with water pressure.

5. Paint worn or scratched areas.

6. Lubricate all grease points.

7. Keep swing lock pin in locked position.

8. Coat exposed cylinder rods and hooks on backhoe with thin film of grease.

9. Put waterproof cover over backhoe if stored outside.
