  1. NOTE: See HYDRAULIC SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS for tractor hydraulic requirements.

The following instruction for preparing John Deere R/RT Series Tractor hydraulic systems is provided as an example of process. See your tractor's operating manual for proper procedures to follow for your machine.

Check hydraulic oil level. Fill if necessary.

  2. INNER WING FOLD/UNFOLD AND COULTER DOWN PRESSURE CONTROL—Select SCV II and adjust flow control to 7 (A).

  3. Adjust SCV II time setting to ”continuous” and display reads “C” (B). Tractor hydraulic pump will continue to operate after fold/unfold cylinders have stopped moving. This is normal and not harmful. However, shutting off pump by moving SCV lever to any position after lever has returned to NEUTRAL is recommended.

IMPORTANT: Time setting (B) MUST ALWAYS BE set to continuous in order for coulters to operate properly.

NOTE: Use continuous for machines equipped with hydraulic control.

  4. LIFT AND WING KICK CYLINDER CONTROL—Select SCV I and adjust flow control to 7 (C). Flow setting is shown on bar graph display.

  5. Adjust SCV I time setting to ”continuous” and display reads “C” (D).

  6. OUTER WING FOLD/UNFOLD—Select SCV III and adjust flow control to 4 (E).

  7. Adjust SCV III time setting to ”continuous” and display reads “C” (F). Tractor hydraulic pump will continue to operate after fold/unfold cylinders have stopped moving. This is normal and not harmful. However, shutting off pump by moving SCV lever to any position after lever has returned to NEUTRAL is recommended.

NOTE: Use continuous for machines equipped with hydraulic control.

  8. SOLUTION PUMP CONTROL—Select SCV IV and adjust flow control to 4 (G). Flow setting is shown on bar graph display.

  9. IMPORTANT: Time setting (H) MUST ALWAYS BE set to continuous in order for solution pump to operate properly.

NOTE: See Preparing Machine section to determine correct SCV setting at desired solution system pressure.

Adjust SCV IV time setting to ”continuous” and display reads “C” (H).
