Checking the Drill
Before towing the drill from the farmyard to the field, check
to ensure:
That the drill has been properly converted for road transport.
That the drill has been coupled to the tractor properly.
That the tramlining rhythm has been set properly.
That the drill opens and closes the solenoid valves.
The proper functioning of the drill when lifting and lowering
the drive wheel.
That all the openers deliver seed. To do this, switch on the
blower and turn the metering device a few times with the calibrating
handle. A small quantity of seed must now collect underneath each
opener.
That the manifold is properly positioned under the venturi cone.
That the red changeover switch on the metering device and the
butterfly valve on the blower are both set to the required position.
The position of the red gearwheel on the metering device. Is
micrometering still selected after the completion of calibration?
That the reduction heads are properly installed in the main
distributor.
That the drive shaft has been fitted correctly.
That the trapdoor on the hopper has been closed.
That the removable sieve in the hopper is free of blockages.
