Use Rate Charts

IMPORTANT: Rate charts for approved crops are general guidelines for initial transmission position before meter rate checks.

NOTE: To determine seeds per hectare (acre), multiply kilograms (pounds) of product per hectare (acre) by the number of seeds per kilogram (pound).

Seed size, seed shape, soil condition, residue level, and seeding speed can all influence the actual rate obtained.

The provided rate charts are used to estimate transmission setting number for the approved product in use and type (color) of meter wheels installed.

EXAMPLE: Use Sorghum Low Rate Chart for 19 and 38 cm (7.5 and 15 in) Rows in this section.

• Single-Rank Machine: For low rate sorghum on 38 cm (15 in) rows:

  Locate 28 kg/ha (25 lb/acre) on left-hand side of rate chart.

  Follow across chart until Single Rank line is intersected, then follow down the chart to find value of transmission setting.

  The initial transmission setting would be 50. A rate check determines final setting.

• Two-Rank Machine: For low rate sorghum on 19 cm (7.5 in) rows.

  Locate 28 kg/ha (25 lb/acre) on left-hand side of rate chart.

  Follow across chart until Two Rank 28 tooth sprocket line is intersected, then follow down the chart to find value of transmission setting.

  The initial transmission setting would be 30. A rate check determines final setting.
