Remove the BrushBelt™ Cartridge

1. IMPORTANT:

   A - Cartridge Seal

   To prevent BrushBelt™ malfunction, do not apply fertilizer directly to the seed furrow near the front of the BrushBelt™.

   NOTE: To dry the BrushBelts™ before planting in wet conditions, perform a meter runoff. (See the SeedStar 3 Operator’s Manual for BrushBelt™ Runoff procedure.)

   Remove the seed meter and hopper. (See Remove and Install The ExactEmerge™ Seed Meter in the ExactEmerge™ Meter Operation section.)

2. Note the position of the depth adjusting handle and then move the handle to the minimum (shallowest) position before attempting to remove the BrushBelt™ cartridge.

3. NOTE: When planting Sugar Beet or Sorghum seeds, the cartridge seal must be used. The cartridge seal does not interfere when planting other crop seeds.

   The cartridge seal (A) is installed on the edge of the BrushBelt™ cartridge as shown when used for planting Sugar Beet or Sorghum seeds.

   To separate the driveshaft (A) and the motor coupler (B), pull back on the top of the BrushBelt™ cartridge (E).

5. Pull upward on the cartridge slightly to expose and disconnect the harness connector (C) from the seed sensor (D).

6. Remove the cartridge from the row unit.

Install the BrushBelt™ Cartridge

2. NOTE: Place the harness connector inside the planting unit at the same time as the cartridge.

   Partially install the BrushBelt™ cartridge (A) into the row unit, then connect the harness connector (B) to the seed sensor (C).

3. Align and push hook (D) onto the alignment pin (E) until the cartridge locks onto the pin.

4. To lock the cartridge in place, align the driveshaft (F) with the motor coupler (G) and press the cartridge forward.

   NOTE: To confirm proper installation, pull rearward on the cartridge assembly. If the bottom of the cartridge moves, the cartridge hook (D) is not properly seated. Remove and repeat installation process until the cartridge is seated properly.

   When planting Sugar Beet or Sorghum seeds, the cartridge seal must be used. The cartridge seal does not interfere when planting other crop seeds.

   Install the cartridge seal (A) on the edge of the BrushBelt™ cartridge as shown, when planting Sugar Beet or Sorghum seeds. If the seal is damaged, replace the seal.

6. Install the seed meter and the hopper. (See Remove and Install The ExactEmerge™ Seed Meter in the ExactEmerge™ Meter Operation section.)

7. Return the depth adjusting handle to the previous position.
