Knockout Wheel Operation

IMPORTANT: To avoid damage to the seed knockout wheel, never operate the meter drives without the seed bowls installed. Without a bowl installed, the rotating BrushBelt™ damages the seed knockout wheel.

A - Seed Knockout Wheel

The seed knockout wheel (A) is used to ensure that the seeds are fully released from the seed cell and properly placed in the BrushBelt™ seed delivery system. Wheel projections engage the seed cell holes, forcing all of the seeds and foreign material to be ejected.

If seed skips occur, inspect the seed knockout wheel for wear. Verify that the wheel fully engages the holes in the seed bowl. Check the seed knockout wheel engagement:

  1. Remove the seed meter assembly from the meter drive assembly on the row unit. (See Remove and Install The ExactEmerge™ Seed Meter in this section.)
  2. Verify that the seed knockout wheel (A) is fully seated in position on the seed meter cover (B). (See Clean Out The Vacuum Meter.)
  3. Verify that the seed knockout wheel engages the holes in the seed bowl (C) as shown by rotating the meter drive coupler (D) on the seed meter assembly.
  4. If the seed knockout wheel is out of alignment with the holes in the seed bowl, adjust the meter hub height or replace the seed knockout wheel. Verify the alignment again.
  5. Install the seed meter assembly on the meter drive of the row unit. (See Remove and Install The ExactEmerge™ Seed Meter in this section.)
  6. Repeat the steps on all of the meters where seed skips occur.
