Replace The Furrow Opener Blades

1. IMPORTANT:

   
   A53246-UN-29OCT03

   A - Cap Screw

   B - Pivot Arm

   Avoid premature wear. Do not use a new blade with a used blade. Install new blades in pairs.

   Remove cap screw (A), pivot arm (B), and the gauge wheel.

   A - Scraper

   B - Cap Screw

   C - Hub Cap

   Remove cap screw (B) and disengage the scraper (A) assembly from the row unit.

3. Remove the hub cap (C).

4. CAUTION:

   A - Nut

   B - Blade

   C - Shims

   Avoid injury from sharp edges on the blades (B). Wear protective gloves and handle the blades carefully.

   IMPORTANT: Avoid spindle damage. The nut on the left side of the row unit has left-hand threads.

   NOTE: While the blade is removed, inspect all of the components between the blades for wear and damage.

   Do not discard the shims (C).

   Remove the hub cap, nut (A), and blade (B).

5. Remove the shims.

6. Adjust the blade contact point during reassembly. (See Inspect and Adjust The Furrow Opener Blades in this section.)

7. During the final reassembly, tighten the blade nut to specification.
