Battery Cables and Charging (If Equipped With Hydraulic EPG)
CAUTION:

A82413-UN-22APR14
Help prevent serious injury from an electrical shock. The
planter is equipped with a 56 V electrical system which has a high-voltage
electrical current. Always use extreme caution when servicing this
machine.Avoid a short circuit or spark that results in
an explosion. Use extreme caution when using tools, wires, or metal
objects near batteries. To prevent shorting out batteries, wrap metal
tools with vinyl tape.
Remove all jewelry (watches, rings, bracelets, and similar items)
before servicing the electrical system or batteries.
IMPORTANT: Charge the batteries when planter is removed from
storage at the beginning of the season. If the battery bank voltage
is below 48 V but above 10 V, the electric power generation (EPG)
is used to charge the batteries. See the SeedStar 3 Operator's Manual
for information about operating the EPG. If the battery bank voltage
is below 10 V, complete the following procedure to charge the batteries
individually.
Batteries also need replacement after long-term use. (See Clean
or Replace Batteries in this section.)
-
Access battery tray. (See Access and Check Batteries in this
section.)

A - Batteries
B - Battery Cables
C - Cable With Fuse
Remove the cable with fuse (C) first. This battery
tray is wired as a 48 V electrical system until the cables are disconnected.
Cables must be removed so that each battery is separated for charging
at a 12 V level.
NOTE: When each battery is separated from the system, check
the voltage level on each battery. (See Access and Check Batteries
in this section.)
Remove all battery cables (B) from batteries (A) before charging.
-
Remove the cable with fuse (C) first.
-
NOTE: Charge each battery to a full level before moving on to
the next battery.
Connect charger cables to battery terminals of each battery
that needs a charge.
-

A - Battery Cable With Fuse
Help prevent serious injury from an electrical shock. This
power generation system is equipped with a 56 V electrical system
which has a high-voltage electrical current. Always use extreme caution
when servicing this machine.Avoid an electric shock from
completing the circuit incorrectly. Attach the battery cable with
fuse (A) last.
Attach battery cable with fuse (A) last.
-
Connect battery cables to battery posts in the numerical sequence
shown. Tighten battery terminal connections. (See Tighten Battery
Terminal Connections in this section.)
-
Perform the following, once cables are connected:
-
Install battery cover and wing screws.
-
Close CCS platform door and turn latches back to original positions on planter.
-
Install previously removed harness connectors on outside of
battery container.
