Set The Vacuum Level

IMPORTANT: Some seed sizes, seed shapes and situations require vacuum levels slightly higher or lower than the settings shown. Always verify the vacuum level with a field check. The chart provided is a guide and is accurate in most conditions.

The hydraulic hookup procedure determines whether the tractor flow control valve or the planter flow control valve is used to control the vacuum level. (See the Attaching Machine section.)

NOTE: Use this chart for the initial vacuum setting and adjust as needed for conditions. This chart is for average ground speed and population rates. Increase the level for high rates or high ground speeds and decrease the level for low rates or low ground speeds.

To zero the SeedStar™ monitor vacuum sensors, refer to the SeedStar™ monitor operator's manual.

Select Menu >> Planter button >> Planter Setup button >> Sensor tab. Select Vacuum from the drop-down box.

When the machine is equipped with more than one vacuum, the bar (on the display) is divided by the number of vacuums on the machine.

The vacuum level is slightly lower during the tractor and vacuum start-up.

Set the vacuum level as follows:

  1. Refer to the tractor OM: Engage the vacuum (SCV lever in detent position). Let the oil warm (approximately 15 minutes).

  2. Fill the CCS™ tanks with seed and engage the blower until the meter hoppers fill with seed.

  3. Fill the seed bowls by raising the machine and using the Fill function on the display.

  4. Adjust the vacuum level manually with the tractor or the planter valves or activate the vacuum automation on the monitor.

The vacuum level is indicated on the monitor. (See SeedStar™ 3 Operator's Manual.)
