Install the Tractor Power Generation System on 7R, 8R, and 9R John Deere™ Tractors

    A - Rubber Footing (2 Used)

    B - Support

    Place the tractor in park, turn off the engine, and remove the key.



  2. NOTE: One style of a support bracket is represented in the graphic. Other support bracket installations are similar.

    Identify the support (B), in the kit, that matches the tractor frame.

  3. Install the rubber footings (A) on the support (B).

    Gear Case Oil

    A - Plug

    Verify that the gear case has oil.

    Place the gear case on a level surface with the vanes vertical (as shown). Remove the plug (A). Check the oil level in the gear case. Fill with approximately 0.5 L (17 fl oz) of John Deere™ Hy-Gard™ oil or until the oil is level with the bottom of the hole.

    A - Temperature Harness

    B - Gear Case

    Install the temperature harness (A) on the gear case (B).

    With the harness positioned behind the gear case as shown, install the gear case (A) onto the PTO shaft (B).

    C - Cap Screws

    Align the support (A) for attachment to the gear case (B).



  8. Install the cap screws (C). Tighten the cap screws slightly, leave them loose enough for gear case adjustment.

  9. Pry up on the gear case slightly, push down on the footing bracket, and then tighten the cap screws (A).

  10. Remove the prying device.

    Avoid damage to the gear and shaft. Lubricate the gear every time the alternator is installed and annually.

    Lubricate the gear (B) on the alternator (A) with the specified lubricant every time the alternator is installed and annually.

    Install the alternator (A) onto the gear case (B) using the cap screws (C).

    Planter Harness to Tractor Power Generator

    A - Alternator Connector

    B - Temperature Harness

    C - Alternator Connector

    D - Power Generation Harness

    Connect the temperature harness (B) to the alternator connector (A).



  14. After the tractor is attached to the planter, connect the power generation harness (D) to the alternator connector (C).

    A - “POWER IN” Harness—Tractor Power Generator

    B - “AUX PWR” Harness—Planter Bulkhead

    Connect the “POWER IN” harness (A) from the generator to the planter “AUX PWR” harness (B) from the planter bulkhead.
