Avoid injury. Row cleaner blades are sharp.Avoid
injury from unexpected component movement. Relieve pneumatic system
pressure before service or manual adjustments.
Safely support machine before service.
IMPORTANT: To prevent damage, remove cotter pin and pin (C)
from right-hand side of each row cleaner before operation. Pin can
be installed for service or storage.
The function of the row cleaner is to sweep aside residue without
moving soil.
Ground conditions, depth adjustment, and ground speed affect
the width of path cleared.
Do not expect 100% removal of crop residue. Complete residue
removal is not necessary. Complete removal requires engagement of
soil, which is not recommended.
Expect row cleaners to stop turning occasionally when they are
properly adjusted above soil surface.
Adjust planter frame height and level the planter for proper
row cleaner operation (See Preparing Machine section).
IMPORTANT: Operation with maximum down force or when mounted
in the lowest position can affect seed depth.
NOTE: Avoid operation in excessively rocky conditions. Contact
with obstacles can raise entire row unit and alter seed depth. If the residue clearing action is too aggressive, standard tine-tooth
wheels are available from your dealer.
Adjust down force according to residue conditions and to maintain
the target seed depth. (See SeedStar 3 Operator’s Manual for operation and adjustment
through display.)
If a mechanical depth stop is needed on a row cleaner:
-
Loosen cap screw (A) and nut (B).
-
Adjust cap screw (A) position until the crucial depth limit
is achieved.
-
To lock the cap screw in position, tighten nut (B).
