Slope Grade Profiles

A - 9% Grade (5 degrees)

B - 18% Grade (10 degrees)

C - 27% Grade (15 degrees)

D - Flat Ground

Observe these additional precautions when operating or transporting a Tow-Behind (TBH) cart on hillsides.

1910 Air Cart Rear HitchCapacity9979 kg (22 000 lb)

For the unlisted seeding tools use the following rules:

For slopes up to 9% Grade (5 degrees) (A):

  • Total weight of towed implement must not exceed the rear hitch capacity on the air cart.
  • Combined weight of the loaded cart plus the towed implement must not exceed the rated capacity of the rear hitch on the seeding tool.

For slopes from 9% to 18% Grade (10 degrees) (B):

  • Total weight of the towed implement must not exceed 0.5 times the seeding tool weight or exceed the rear hitch capacity on the air cart.
  • Combined weight of loaded cart plus the towed implement must not exceed 2.5 times the seeding tool weight.
  • Combined weight of loaded cart plus the towed implement must not exceed the rated capacity of the rear hitch on the seeding tool.

For slopes from 18% to 27% Grade (10—15 degrees):

  • Total weight of the towed implement must not exceed 0.5 times the seeding tool weight or exceed the rear hitch capacity on the air cart.
  • Combined weight of loaded cart plus the towed implement must not exceed 2.0 times the seeding tool weight.
  • Combined weight of loaded cart plus the towed implement must not exceed the rated capacity of the rear hitch on the seeding tool.

Refer to Preparing the Machine section for weight charts and further information on calculations.

For slopes above 27% Grade (15 degrees) (C):

  • Tow-Behind carts are not compatible with slopes above 27% grade.
