Adjust 1895 Gauge Wheel and Fertilizer Depth

A64574
A64574-UN-13MAY09

A - Deep

B - Shallow

C - Handle

Raising gauge wheel lowers fertilizer depth for deeper application; lowering gauge wheel raises fertilizer depth for shallow application.

Heavy field residue or worn disk openers require use of a deeper setting to achieve desired fertilizer placement

Fertilizer depth adjustment range is approximately 13 to 90 mm (0.5 to 3.5 in) from deep (A) to shallow (B) settings. Generally, the second slot from the bottom end of adjustment range (25 mm [1 in] fertilizer depth) is used as a starting point. Each adjustment slot changes fertilizer depth in 6.35 mm (0.25 in) increments.

To Adjust:

Pull handle (C) up, turn 45 degrees and position in desired slot.

To avoid blowing gas out of furrow when using separate fertilizer placement (SFP) openers with anhydrous ammonia (NH3) only, disable air flow to SFP openers. (See air cart operator’s manual).
