Prepare to Operate Air Drill in Field

1. Properly prepare the tractor and machine. (See Preparing the Tractor and Preparing the Machine sections.) Check that proper connections have been made for the drill/seed cart configuration (tow-between or tow-behind). (See Attaching and Detaching section.)

2. Place tractor transmission in “Park” and/or set brakes; then start engine.

   To help prevent severe injury or death to you or someone else:
   • Keep all persons away from machine when raising and lowering wings.
   • Always locate machine on level ground when raising and lowering wings.
   • Never raise or lower wings when moving.

   A - SCV II

   With the machine on level ground and wing area clear of bystanders, operate selective control valve (SCV) II (A) until wings are lowered and cylinders are fully extended.

   While moving forward, lower openers into the ground by moving SCV I (A) forward into lower detent position.

5. Operate machine normally over a test distance.

6. Stop machine and check seed placement.

   Make opener adjustments and/or reset active hydraulic downforce as necessary.
