Distance Calibration

1. Touch the SETUP SELECT switch (A). The display will show DIST/CAL.

Driving the planter through a 121.9 m (400 ft) marked off distance in a planting field will give the monitor the MOST ACCURATE information.

2. While driving the planter at planting speed, push the DIST/CAL switch (B) exactly when passing start marker on the 121.9 m (400 ft) marked course. This will set the display at zero and start counting the pulses. Exactly when passing the end 121.9 m (400 ft) marker, push the DIST/CAL switch again.

The display will show approximately 7836.

This is a theoretical number and different conditions will give a slightly different result. The number can be input into the console by using the DIGIT SELECT and 0-9 switches, but the most accurate population data will be obtained by using the 121.9 m (400 ft) marker course method.

NOTE: The number can be changed by entering the new number with the DIGIT SELECT and 0-9 switch in the setup mode. The value must be between 300 and 9999, or the monitor will be forced into the FORCED SETUP STATE. The monitor will not acknowledge other selections until a proper value has been entered.

(Tractors Equipped with a Performance Monitor Only) The radar for the tractor performance monitor and the radar for the 250 planter monitor have the same output. Each radar may be connected independently to each monitor or both radars may be used as input to both monitors at the same time with a "Y" harness (see your John Deere dealer for part number).

The nominal calibration for the tractor performance monitor and planter monitor will NOT be the same. Nominal calibration number on planter monitor is 7836.

It is not necessary to calibrate both monitors over a 121.9 m (400 ft) course. If the tractor monitor is calibrated in the field on a 121.9 m (400 ft) course, multiply that number by 1.365 and enter into the planter monitor. If the planter monitor is calibrated in the field on the 121.9 m (400 ft) course, multiply that number by .733 and enter into the tractor monitor.

Example:
Tractor Monitor 5800 x 1.365 = 7917
Planter Monitor 7900 x .733 = 5790
