Speed Set Mode

(Population Monitor without a Distance Sensor).

This feature allows the operator to enter a fixed ground speed in the event of the failure of a distance sensor.

To enter the SPEED SET MODE turn the monitor on (POWER UP) with the AREA ON/OFF switch (A) depressed for one second, all the display messages will appear for a few seconds.

The display will then show ROW 1 FAILED (B).

Push SETUP SELECT switch (A), the display will show SPEED.

Using the DIGIT SELECT and 0-9 switches (B) to input speed. Only the POP mode with SCAN, MIN-AVG-MAX, or ROW SELECT may be used. The SEED COUNT and DISTANCE COUNT modes may also be selected. There will not be any LO or HI WARNS or DIST/FAILED messages. However ROW FAILURES will be displayed if they occur.

In this mode the operator will observe apparent variations in population as the speed is varied. This is due to calculations based upon a constant speed which has been programmed into the monitor in the SETUP state and must be maintained for the displayed populations to be correct. SPEED SET MODE information must be re-entered on every power up.
