Cleaning Dry Fertilizer Hoppers

Do not use welding torch to free frozen dry fertilizer augers from auger shaft.

Fertilizer trapped inside augers could cause gas to form which, when heated, may explode.

Disconnect couplers from augers by removing cotter pins and drilled pins (A).

Remove clamps and disconnect fertilizer hoses (A) from hoppers.

Remove hopper lock-down bolts (A).

If equipped with auger fill attachment, loosen U-bolts on auger tube supports.

If equipped with auger fill attachment, remove marker anchor (A) from left-hand marker (B) and lower marker to ground.

Pivot auger tube (C) rearward.

Release lid fasteners and slide lids (A) rearward until they hang on edge of hopper.

(6-Row Planters Only) Slide center hopper lid (B) forward until it hangs on edge of hopper.

Tip hoppers (A) forward and flush all loose fertilizer from hoppers and tubes with water. Check inside of each auger housing on ends of tanks.

If necessary, clean with a wire brush.

Pivot hoppers back to operating position and replace lids.

Replace couplers on augers and attach with drilled pins and cotter pins.

Attach hopper by replacing lock-down bolts and nuts.

Attach hoses to hoppers with clamps.

Pivot auger fill tube into position over hoppers and tighten U-bolts.

Raise left-hand marker to vertical position and attach with anchor and clip.
