Connecting Hydraulic Hoses (Row-Crop Tractors) (4-Row and 6-RN)
CAUTION:
To avoid injury from escaping hydraulic oil under pressure, relieve the pressure in the system by shutting off tractor and moving remote cylinder operating levers in both directions before detaching hoses from the breakaway couplers.
CAUTION:
Hydraulic hoses can fail due to physical damage, kinks, age and exposure. Check hoses regularly. Replace damaged hoses.
NOTE:
Not necessary to turn off tractor if attaching planter to John Deere Tractor with ISO couplers.
Connect hydraulic hoses for planter lift and marker system (A) to breakaway coupler number one.
If planter is equipped with independent markers, connect marker hoses (B) to breakaway coupler number two.
IMPORTANT:
Adjust flow control valve (C) for independent markers so SCV lever will stay in detent position when raising and lowering markers.
NOTE:
On 40 Series and older tractors or compact tractors without "connect under pressure" capability, lower planter, lock up marker and relieve pressure in hoses by putting SCV levers in "FLOAT" position to make it easier to hook-up planter next time.
