Connecting Hydraulic Hoses (Row-Crop Tractors) (6-RW and 8-RN)
CAUTION:
To avoid injury from escaping hydraulic oil under pressure, relieve the pressure in the system by shutting off tractor and moving remote cylinder operating levers in both directions before detaching hoses from the breakaway couplers.
CAUTION:
Hydraulic hoses can fail due to physical damage, kinks, age and exposure. Check hoses regularly. Replace damaged hoses.
NOTE:
Not necessary to turn off tractor if attaching planter to John Deere tractor with ISO couplers.
Hydraulic hose (A) previously connected to facilitate attaching planter to tractor.
If planter is equipped with independent markers, connect marker hoses (B) to breakaway coupler number 2.
IMPORTANT:
Set the flow control valve (C) on the tractor to full open.
NOTE:
On 40 Series and older tractors or compact tractors without "Connect under pressure" capability, lower planter, lock up marker and relieve pressure in hoses by putting SCV levers in "FLOAT" position to make it easier to hook-up planter next time.
