Connecting Wiring Harnesses and Hydraulic Hoses to Tractor (Row Crop Tractors)
CAUTION:
To avoid injury from escaping hydraulic oil under pressure, relieve the pressure in the system by shutting off tractor and moving remote cylinder operating levers in both directions before detaching hoses from the breakaway couplers.
Hydraulic hoses can fail due to physical damage, kinks, age and exposure. Check hoses regularly. Replace damaged hoses.
NOTE:
Not necessary to turn off tractor if attaching planter to John Deere Tractor with ISO couplers.
1.
Connect planter lift hoses (A) to breakaway coupler number 1 as illustrated.
2.
Connect planter warning lamp harness (B) to seven-pin connector.
3.
Connect monitor harness (C) to tractor connector.
4.
Connect control console harness (D) to tractor connector.
5.
(Vacuum Metering System) Insert flow control valve pressure hose (E) into right side of breakaway coupler as illustrated. If 50 Series Row Crop Tractors and newer are used, install hydraulic motor return hose (F) into left-hand coupler.
NOTE:
(40 Series or older Tractor) Install hydraulic motor return hose into left-hand side of tractor coupler. Some 30 and 40 Series Tractors were converted to ISO, but do not require motor return. Tractors without "Connect under Pressure" SCV, turn engine OFF engine and cycle SCV to relieve pressure in hose to tractor. Planter solenoid valve will hold up planter or lower to ground or use service stops. Secure marker.
6.
Attach cab-mounted flow control valve (G) to bracket outside of tractor cab SCV coupler.
