Tractor Requirement

causym CAUTION: Front-end ballast may not always maintain the required stability if the tractor is driven too fast over rough ground with planter in raised position. Be safe and drive slowly under these conditions.

NOTE: Dual rear wheels are used and required for stability and load capacity. A 12-row planter which weighs 10,375 pounds will add 16,375 pounds to the rear axle when the planter is raised. Rear tire spacing on 102 cm (40 in.) rows will be 203 and 406 cm (80 and 160 in.), which require using the John Deere 38 cm (15 in.) spacers.

For tractor hitch lift requirements and front ballast requirements, use the implement code method on the following pages.

The implement code number represents the weight of the planter and how far rearward the weight is from the tractor.

Determine the hitch lift compatibility first to see if the planter can be fully mounted.
