Disk Closing Attachment

Recommended for very shallow planting conditions, generally cotton, when planting in varying soil conditions (i.e., sand soil, average soil and gumbo soils, all in the same field).

The following attachments cannot be used with the disk closing attachment:

Granular herbicide attachment

Rear-mounted chemical insecticide attachment or seed packer wheel

Windshield for granular herbicide and/or insecticide attachment

Row leveling chains

Spring-tooth incorporator

Angle Adjustment

NOTE: The following adjustment should be made in the field.

The closing disks close the seed trench by squeezing soil from each side of the trench around the seed. There are five angle settings which can be changed, depending on soil conditions. Use the minimum angle required to close the seed trench.

To change disk angle, loosen nut and bolt (A). Pivot disk until holes are aligned and tighten nut and bolt.

Depth Adjustment

NOTE: The following adjustment should be made in the field.

The depth of the closing disks should be approximately 3/8 x 5/8 in. (10 to 15 mm) deeper than the planting depth. There are five settings available.

NOTE: The following adjustment should be made in the field.

The down force applied to the press wheel should be at a minimum necessary to close the disk tracks and establish a soil surface profile for proper drainage.
