Implement Codes, Example 1

EXAMPLE 1: 1720 8-Row Wide

8-Row Wide fully mounted planter with markers, clay based insecticide, V-wings and non-adjustable down-force springs.

Use the following implement codes for FULLY MOUNTED PLANTER.

Basic planter with seed 315
Markers 39
Insecticide (clay based) 52
V-Wings 25
Non-adjustable down-force springs 2
Total Code 433

This planter is to be used on a 7800 MFWD tractor with the 8925 pound rated hitch. Use this code first to determine if the tractor will lift the planter using the TRACTOR HITCH LIFT CODE CHART and the codes for fully mounted planters. From the chart, the 7800 with the 10,050 pound hitch rating has a code of 478 for a fully mounted planter. The lift code for the tractor hitch is higher than the planter code so the tractor can lift the planter.

Next determine the tractor front ballast requirements by using the same planter code and the chart for TRACTOR FRONT BALLAST CODES. The tractor codes are listed in the tractor operator's manual under "Front Weights" but may not be updated to the latest codes. A 7800 MFWD tractor with 20 front weights, which will be compatible with wide row spacings has a code of 367. This is short of the required 433, and fluid will be required in the front tires for proper front end stability. Fluid for a 14.9R30 tire at 5 lbs. of salt per gallon adds 59 to the code for a total of 426, which is slightly below the needed 433 but is acceptable.
