GENERAL-A variety of hydraulically operated functions are utilized on the 1720 planter. The number of tractor SCV's required will vary with base equipment and options ordered. For a fully equipped base planter including vacuum meters, markers, fold and SEEDSTAR
™
variable rate drive, 5 SCV's are required or 4 SCV's and Power Beyond. The wings and center section of planter has its' own vacuum blower motor which are plumbed separately to provide vacuum level fine tuning adjustability to each. This requires two SCV's. Fold, markers and variable rate drive each require a separate SCV. If only 4 SCV's are available add Power Beyond and run variable rate drive from that unit. It is possible to use only three SCV's and Power Beyond if both vacuum blowers are plumbed together using one SCV - however, the ability to fine tune each half of the planter using the tractor SCV flow controls is sacrificed. With a finger-pickup planter, use of as few as three SCV's are possible for fold, markers and variable rate drive, or two SCV's for fold and markers, then use Power Beyond for variable rate drive.
