Changing Row Widths

Row widths can be changed to 97 and 102 cm (38 and 40 in.) row spacings on the 97 and 102 cm (38 and 40 in.) row spacing planter. The 97 and 102 cm (36 in.) row spacing planters have a different frame for 91.4 cm (36 in.) rows only.

Row widths cannot be changed on planters with 70 cm (27.5 in.) or 76 cm (30 in.) row spacing.

To change row widths, proceed as follows:

Empty hoppers and lower planter to the ground.

Loosen drive-gauge wheel U-bolts (A), ratchet set screw (B) and planting U-bolts (C).

Place each inside planting unit so center of unit is half the desired row width from center of planting frame.

Place other units at the desired row width.

Torque U-bolts to shown specifications, and tighten ratchet set screw.

Specification

Check all drive components for interference. Check planting unit openers to ensure seed tubes and openers are free of dirt or other foreign material.

IMPORTANT: There should be light contact between ratchet sprocket and ratchet dog assembly. Be certain ratchet sprocket turns freely after moving wheel.

Be certain drive chain aligns properly with ratchet sprocket on countershaft. Loosen sprocket set screws and locate sprocket as needed. Retighten set screws.

NOTE: The drive-gauge wheels are factory set to machine order. If other row spacing is desired, move drive-gauge wheels accordingly.
