Replacing Seed Deflectors and Boots

1. Clean dirt from parts prior to removal.

A-Cap Screw, 7/16 x 4-1/4 in.
B-Lock Nut
C-Cap Screw, 7.9 x 31.75 mm


D-Lower Seed Boot
E-Lock Nut
F-Upper Seed Boot


G-Seed Deflector
H-Strap
I-Seed Tube


J-Seed Tube
K-Seed Tube

2. Remove leaf spring (L) to release seed boot from operating position against disk opener.

3. Remove cap screw (C), lock nut (E) and lower boot half (D) to replace seed deflector (G).

4. Remove cap screw (A), lock nut (B) and strap (H) to remove boot assembly and seed tube (I,J, or K).

5. Attach seed boot using one-of-three mounting positions. See POSITIONING SEED BOOTS in the Preparing The Machine section for further information.

6. Install new parts using previously removed hardware.

IMPORTANT: Leaf spring keeps seed boot against inside of disk opener for accurate seed placement.

7. Install leaf spring (A) from the bottom, making sure spring is locked into position below boot attaching cap screw and above boot stop.
