IMPORTANT: To prevent damage to piston pump see Storage section for recommendations on storage procedures.

IMPORTANT: All nurse tanks should be equipped with strainers to prevent contamination.

Proper filtering of liquid fertilizer is important to prevent obstruction of orifices and damage to piston pump. An 80 mesh (AA40216) main strainer (A) is provided as standard equipment and is located in the line to the bottom of pump. It should be checked and cleaned after initial start up, daily or as required thereafter. Located at each row in the special orifice fittings are size 50 mesh strainers. These strainers are needed initially only to trap assembly-related particles and they can be removed after system has been operating

several hours when using No. 43 or larger orifice. If No. 31 orifices are being used, the strainers should be kept in the system. If not removed, these strainers should be checked and cleaned after startup, daily or as required if obstruction of fertilizer flow is observed at row. Obstructions will result in increased manifold pressure readings on gauge.

Fertilizer with excessive contamination can cause increased frequency of main strainer clean out requirements. Should this become unacceptable and orifice number used is 43 or greater, a coarser 50 mesh screen strainer (AA40215) is available through service parts. Using this coarser main strainer requires that individual row 50 mesh strainers be replaced with a coarser 24 mesh screen. These strainers are also available through service parts.
