Using Powdered Graphite

IMPORTANT: Some insecticide-treated seed is coated with commercially applied graphite. It is important that the recommended amount of graphite be added in addition to graphite already on the seed.

IMPORTANT: Add 6 mL (3/8 T.) of powdered graphite (Part No. B33379) per bushel of soybeans to each hopper. Graphite will filter down into radial bean meter and insure proper lubrication. John Deere Graphite provides a dry lubrication. Some types have an oil base and will form a gummy residue on parts. Graphite does not eliminate need for proper and regular lubrication indicated in lubrication charts.

NOTE: Any additives other than John Deere powdered graphite in radial bean meters may leave residue on parts that could affect planting rates.

Regular use of 6 mL (3/8 T.) of powdered graphite (Part No. B33379) added into hopper per each bushel of soybeans reduces wear of metering components and prolongs life of meter.

With rough-textured soybeans or treated soybeans, extra graphite added regularly with seed will improve seed flow into meter.
