Operating in Hilly Conditions and Addition of Ballast-1690
CAUTION:
Avoid loss of control and stability when operating on steep slopes.
Operating, steering and braking control of the tractor, seeding tool and air cart combination can be reduced or lost when operating on steep slopes which shift the center of gravity of the seeding tool and may cause the tool to tip forward
IMPORTANT:
To maintain the necessary ground contact and stability, ballast the seeding tool as follows:
Tow-behind operation
When using a tow-behind cart, do not operate on slopes greater than 27% grade (15 degrees) under any conditions. Air cart capacity must not exceed 195 bushels, and rear of Seeding tool must be ballasted with at least 14 tractor suitcase weights of 100 lbs. each.
Tow-between operation
When using a tow-between cart, do not operate on slopes greater than 32% grade (18 degrees) unless the rear of the seeding tool is ballasted with at least 14 tractor suitcase weights of 100 lbs each. Do not operate on slopes greater than 40% grade (22 degrees) under any conditions.
