Adjusting Vacuum Meter Baffle

1. Open vacuum meter. See ACCESSING THE VACUUM METER in this section.

NOTE: Lower position (B) is recommended for smaller seeded crops such as: sugar beets, sorghum, oil sunflower and popcorn.

Upper position (C) is recommended for larger seeded crops such as: corn, soybeans, cotton, edible beans, peanuts, sweet corn and confectionary sunflower.

2. Move tab (A) to the position recommended in the Vacuum Meter Rate Charts section.

Seed bridging at meter inlet can result in long skips when planting. If this condition should occur, adjust baffle to upper position (C) and add talc lubricant generously.

NOTE: Lowering the baffle will NOT eliminate overfilling of vacuum meter caused by extremely rough field conditions. Increase down force on row unit and reduce planting speed.

Overfilling of meter may occur if planting on hillsides. This may cause seed disk fins to carry seed over brush into seed tube and result in high population. When planting in hillside conditions, use of round seeds and in some cases flat disks will provide the best performance. If these conditions occur, reduce planting speed.
