To engage insecticide and/or herbicide drive, rotate knob (A) until spring-loaded knob engages spring pin in insecticide/herbicide drive shaft.
CAUTION:
Agricultural chemicals can be dangerous. Improper selection or use can injure persons, animals, plants, soils, or other property. BE SAFE: Select the right chemical for the job. Use rubber gloves and respirator and apply the chemical with care. Follow instructions of the chemical manufacturer.
Most insecticides and herbicides readily accumulate moisture and may damage the granular attachment if allowed to remain in the hopper when the machine is not in use. Even during periods of operation, deposits of insecticide may build up in the hopper and interfere with working parts. Therefore, the hoppers should be checked every day for any material buildup and thoroughly cleaned if the machine is not to be used for a period greater than two days.
See Service-End of Season section for cleaning instructions.
IMPORTANT:
Because the available chemical materials vary widely in consistency and composition, their "flow-ability" is affected by temperature and humidity conditions. It is important to calibrate each individual meter to the particular chemical being used.
NOTE:
Application rates greater than 227 gm (8 oz) per 305 m (1000 ft) at 10 km/h (6 mph) require installation of the high rate fluted roller in meter.
Follow chemical manufacturer's application rate and meter setting recommendations as a starting point for the meter dial setting.
If meter setting is not available from chemical manufacturer, use the charts in this section as a starting point for meter dial setting.
