Checking Dry Fertilizer Rates
To check the exact number of kilograms or pounds of fertilizer that will actually be delivered, proceed as follows:
1.
Remove one hose from any fertilizer hopper and attach a plastic bag or other suitable container under the opening in the hopper.
2.
Engage the fertilizer attachment and drive forward the correct distance for the row spacing planted (see chart below).
3.
Weigh the amount of fertilizer caught in the container.
4.
Multiply weight by 247 for kilograms of fertilizer delivered per hectare, or multiply the weight by 100 for pounds of fertilizer delivered per acre.
| Row Spacing |
Distance |
| 51 cm (20 in.) |
79.5 m (261 ft) |
| 70 cm |
57.9 m (190 ft) |
| 76 cm (30 in.) |
53 m (174 ft) |
| 91 cm (36 in.) |
44.2 m (145 ft) |
| 97 cm (38 in.) |
42.1 m (138 ft) |
Example:
In this example, 0.454 kg (1 lb) was collected in the container.
0.454 kg x 247 kg/ha = 112 kg/ha
or
1 lb x 100 lb/acre = 100 lb/acre
