Double-Disk Fertilizer Openers

IMPORTANT: On certain frame configurations, some opener locations may be limited.

Double-Disk openers will perform in conventional and reduced tillage conditions. They are not recommended for no-till or double crop field conditions where the double disk design limits penetration ability.

The double disk opener can be used for both the liquid and dry fertilizer attachments.

The openers will place the fertilizer from 50 mm to 125 mm (2 in. to 5 in.) off row center and from 76 mm to 125 mm (3 in. to 5 in.) deep, depending on soil conditions. The disks are equipped with self-lubricating anti-friction bearings.

The double-disk opener can be used in two positions for light or heavy soil conditions. For light soils, place the spring anchor bolt (A) at top of slot (B) and for heavy soils, place the spring anchor bolt at bottom of slot.

IMPORTANT: Adjusting bolt jam nut must NEVER bottom out against the housing. Bottoming this nut against the housing restricts the pivoting action of the bolt, resulting in premature spring and/or bolt failures.

To change spring position; raise machine, loosen jam nut (C) and turn spring anchor bolt until spring is loose, move bolt to desired position and tighten bolt and jam nut.

Adjust scrapers with cap screws (A) until scraper is close but not touching the disk blade.

The opener can be locked in a raised position when the fertilizer attachment is not being used, or for storage.

To lock the opener, proceed as follows:

Raise the machine and place blocks beneath the openers. Remove the stop pin.
