Locking Up Split Row Units

IMPORTANT: Avoid damage to planting units. If units are equipped with heavy-duty down force springs, place springs in MINIMUM force settings before attempting to use row lock-up.

If units are equipped with pneumatic down force, maintain a small amount of air pressure 21 kPa to 34 kPa (0.21 bar to 0.34 bar) (3 psi to 5 psi) on split row units so air bags do not kink. If air bags kink when locking up split rows, lower split rows and pressurize to 21 kPa to 34 kPa (0.21 bar to 0.34 bar) (3 psi to 5 psi). Then lock up units.

NOTE: Lift arm (A) is stored in end of machine frame.

1. Raise machine.

2. Engage lift arm pin (B) in spring retaining strap (C).

3. Rotate spring retaining strap forward.

causym CAUTION: Avoid injury. Head of pins (B) and (D) must be hooked over edge of parallel arm. Lift arm may slip if not properly hooked.

4. Install lift arm (A) on opposite side of spring retaining strap, with front pin (B) on TOP side of parallel arm (C) and rear pin (D) on BOTTOM side of parallel arm (C).

5. Raise planting unit with lift arm until compression link (A) engages bushing (B) on lower parallel arm. Spring mechanism should "click" when this happens.

6. Remove hopper.

NOTE: Seed meters should not be allowed to turn when row units are locked up. The planting unit chain will continue to turn while in the raised position.

7. Place drive tabs (A) behind lock (B).

8. If raised units are equipped with vacuum meters, disconnect vacuum hose (A) from manifold fitting (B) and install cap (C) on manifold fitting.

9. Repeat steps 2 thru 8 on remaining rows to be locked up.
