Machine Unfolded

IMPORTANT: Before performing any of these checks, be sure hydraulic SCV's are set to maximum flow, the frame control console has power (backlight is on), cleanout switch set in PLANT position, and the proper buttons are being pushed for the desired function to be performed.

Machine not functioning. (Tractor engine must be running and console power light on.)

Control console not powered.

Check electrical connections at 7-pin connector. Check tractor 7-pin connector, clean if necessary.

Check inline fuses to frame control box.

Pressure and return hoses not fully engaged in SCV outlets.

Erratic or uneven lift.

Air in hydraulic system.

Completely lower machine and rephase hydraulic system.

Machine will not raise.

Cleanout switch in wrong position.

Place cleanout switch in plant position.

Tractor SCV bypassing oil.

Adjust SCV lever linkage. (See Tractor Operator's Manual.)

Solenoid Y1 not energizing.

Check for 12V at the solenoid.

Check solenoid.

Valve Y1 stuck closed.

Clean or replace valve.

Machine doesn't raise or lower.

Cleanout switch in wrong position.

Place cleanout switch in plant position.

Solenoid Y1 not energizing.

Check for 12V at solenoid.

See your John Deere dealer.

Valve Y1 stuck closed.

Check for 12V at the solenoid.

Clean or replace valve.

Machine raises or lowers very slowly.

Y18. Y19, Y20 and Y21 valves stuck.

Clean or replace valve.

Machine lowers uneven/center down first.

Y18. Y19, Y20 and Y21 valves stuck.

Clean or replace valve.

Rephase valve on wings malfunctioning.

Clean or replace valve.

Machine lowers uneven/wings down first.

Rephase valve on main frame.

Clean or replace valve.

Machine raises/lowers uneven from side to side.

Defective or stuck flow divider valve (9).

Clean or replace valve.

See your John Deere dealer.

Machine will not fold.

PLANT/TRANSPORT switch in PLANT position.

Switch to TRANSPORT position.

Y9 solenoid not energizing.

Check solenoid for 12V.

Check solenoid.

Y9 valve stuck closed.

Clean or replace valve.

Machine folds when not selected.

Y9 valve is stuck open.

Clean or replace valve.

Machine folds too fast.

Verify there is an orifice fitting in the rod end of the fold cylinders.

Install orifice fitting if missing.

Machine frame unequal. (Left wing frame higher or lower than right wing frame.)

Air in hydraulic system.

Completely lower machine and rephase hydraulic system.

Machine center frame higher than wing frames.

Storage locks on center frame wheels.

Remove storage locks.

Air in hydraulic system.

Completely lower machine and rephase hydraulic system.

Excessive attachment and planting unit downforce.

Reduce spring force on unit downforce springs, openers (attachments).

Too much downforce.

Reduce downforce.

SCV set to constant detent in up position for extended period of time.

Return SCV to neutral position when raised.

Wings bulldoze in soft soil conditions.

Frame height too low.

Increase frame height with wheel module adjustment.

Disk openers, gauge wheels or transport wheels must rotate freely.

Planting too fast.

Reduce operating speed.

Hitch too low.

Raise and level hitch.

Too much downforce.

Reduce downforce.
