Changing From 76 cm (30 in.) To 38 cm (15 in.) Rows

1. TWO-POINT HITCH: Change hitch to offset position. See ADJUSTING HITCH CROSSBAR-32R15 AND 24R15 ONLY in this section.

DRAWBAR HITCH: Change tractor drawbar to offset position (all the way right). See Adjusting Tractor Drawbar-32R15 And 24R15 With Drawbar Hitch Only in Preparing Tractor section.

2. Empty seed from all row unit meters. See CLEANING OUT SEED HOPPERS AND METERING UNITS in Operating Machine section.

3. Replace seed disks (vacuum meters only) or entire meter (mechanical meters only) on front rank rows.

4. Raise rear rank wing row units and remove split-row cylinder locks (A) in both right-wing and left-wing rockshaft cylinders. Completely lower rear rank wing row units.

5. Place split-row cylinder lock (A) into storage location.

6. Remove row unit lock-up bar (A) from storage location on right-hand side of main frame.

7. Place row unit lock-up latch (B) in position shown.

8. Unlock row units on rear rank main frame using lock-up bar (A) as shown, or raise 3 pt. hitch and slowly lower frame until row units are at full length of travel. Raise machine and all row units should be in unlocked position.

9. Engage meter drive on the five main frame rear rank row units. See ENGAGING METER DRIVE in Operating Machine section. The drives for rear rank wing row units engage automatically.

10. Remove vacuum hose (A) from a rear row unit meter. Remove plug (B) from meter vacuum port, and reinstall vacuum hose to meter. Repeat for all rear rank row units.

11. Remove seed delivery hose (A) from a rear rank row unit meter. Remove plug (B) from meter inlet and reinstall seed delivery hose to meter. Repeat for all rear rank row units.

12. Install proper seed disk (vacuum meters only) or entire meter (mechanical meters only) in rear rank row units.

13. Set downforce on rear rank row units.

14. Set transmission to desired seed rate.

15. Reset vacuum level.

NOTE: See your SEEDSTAR ™ Generation 2 and Variable Rate Fertilizer or 150,250,350 COMPUTER TRAK ™ Operator's Manual.

16. Reprogram monitor:

  • Change row spacing to 38 cm (15 in.).
  • Make sure implement width is correct.
  • Change target population and high/low warning limits.

17. Make necessary adjustments to front rank row units for correct seed placement and seed trench closing.

18. Adjust marker to correct length for desired row spacing. See ADJUSTING MARKER LENGTH in this section.
