Aligning Jackshaft Couplers-51 cm (20 in.) Row Machine

1. Unfold machine, completely lower to ground and pull forward slightly to engage drives.

2. If surfaces do not align from side to side, proceed as follows.

a. Measure distance between tomahawk bases.

b. If tomahawk bases are not within ±3 mm (±1/8 in.) of specification, remove cotter pins (B).

Specification

Tomahawk Separation -Distance 44.5 mm (1 3/4 in.)

c. Transfer washers (C), as needed, from one side of shaft to the other until tomahawks are within specifications.

d. Install cotter pins.

NOTE: Chains may have to be removed to rotate shafts.

3. Rotate tomahawks by hand and observe alignment of flat surfaces (A). Tomahawk surfaces should align to within 3 mm (1/8 in.) throughout full rotation.

4. If flat surfaces (A) do not align fore/aft when tomahawks are parallel to ground, loosen three carriage bolts (B) and adjust wing bracket (C) fore or aft.

5. If flat surfaces do not align up/down when tomahawks are perpendicular to ground, loosen four carriage bolts (D) and adjust center frame bracket (E) up or down.
