Installing Seed Sensors—CCS Machines

  1. IMPORTANT: Hose ends must be cut off in alternating lengths to allow for sensor clearance.

IMPORTANT: Hoses must be re-numbered after being cut for proper identification and installation.

NOTE: Seed delivery tubes are numbered and pre-cut according to which opener and venturi they will connect. Openers and venturies are numbered in sequence from machine left to machine right.

Harness On Same Side As Hose Section

    A - Hose Section, 152 mm (6 in.)

    B - Hose Section, 229 mm (9 in.)

    C - Sensors

    D - Couplers

    E - Couplers

Cut 152 mm (6 in.) from end of odd numbered hoses and re-number new hose ends. Save removed portions for sensor installation.

  2. Cut 229 mm (9 in.) from end of even numbered hoses and re-number new hose ends. Save removed portions for sensor installation.

  3. IMPORTANT: Avoid seed plugging or damage. Sensor is designed for seed flow in one direction only. Install seed sensor with harness facing short hose sections (toward rear of machine).

Attach seed sensors (C), in proper direction, to hose sections with couplers (D) and hose clamps.

  4. Loosely install coupler (E) on other end of sensor with one hose clamp. Tighten clamp just enough to prevent coupler from falling off.

  5. NOTE: A heat gun can be used to soften the hose for installation, also.

    B - Hose Section, 229 mm (9 in.)

    C - Harness Leads

Lubricate end of 152 mm (6 in.) hose section (A) on sensor assembly and number one venturi surface with glass cleaner and press completely on venturi fitting.

  6. Lubricate end of 229 mm (9 in.) hose section (B) on sensor assembly and number two venturi surface with Lubricating Soap (AR54749) and press completely on venturi fitting. Continue with sensor installation in order and in alternating pattern across machine.

Coil sensor harness and fasten to delivery hose with tie bands (A).

  8. Connect sensor plugs (B) to sensor harness (C) and route over hose supports.

  9. Place potted junction (D) and excess harness in end of frame tube.

  10. Route main harness to front of machine and secure with tie bands.
