Unit Mounted Coulter

causym CAUTION: Avoid crushing injury or death from a falling implement. Before performing any service or adjustments under a raised machine:

Shift tractor to "Park" or set the parking brake, stop engine and remove the key.

causym CAUTION: Place support blocks (A) under gauge wheels. Lower implement onto blocks.

causym CAUTION: Coulter blades are very sharp. Use caution to avoid being cut.

IMPORTANT: Bottom edge of coulter blade should be approximately 10 mm (3/8 in.) above bottom edge of seed openers. (Check this dimension with machine in planting position on any level surface.) This dimension will minimize force required for penetration and help maintain a constant seed depth. In heavy straw, penetration and cutting action may be improved if bottom edge of coulter blade is positioned slightly below bottom edge of seed openers.

NOTE: Do not operate coulter deeper than seed opener when soil penetration is a limiting factor.

The unit mounted coulter can be used to assist the TRU-VEE ™ opener to penetrate tough soil conditions and to cut or displace residue commonly found in reduced tillage conditions.

The coulter blade penetration depth is controlled with the opener gauge wheels, weight adjustment and cap screw (A). As blade wear occurs, loosen cap screw (A), lower arm to next notch and tighten nut.

Down force springs are recommended with this attachment.

Adjust coulter blade so it is directly in front of TRU-VEE ™ opener and is not running at an angle to direction of travel.

To align side-to-side, loosen cap screws (A) and slide coulter.

If coulter blade is running at an angle different than the direction of travel, remove cap screws (A) and add washers, as required, between back surface of coulter casting and front of planting unit.
