Finding Transmission Sprocket Settings for Row Widths Not Shown in Operator's Manual

When desired population is known, use the following formula to find transmission sprocket settings for row widths not shown in seed charts. FORMULA: (A ÷ B) x C = D A = Desired row width in inches. B = Row width column in the seed chart (for crop being planted) nearest to desired row width. C = Seed population desired. D = Calculated comparison population value. The following example assumes corn will be planted (using vacuum meters with corn-30 cell disks) with |
planting units set on 28 in. rows and a desired seed population of 28 000. Using seed chart for corn-30 cells, the row width nearest the desired row width is 30 in.
EXAMPLE: (28 ÷ 30) x 28 000 = 26 133 Find population value in chart nearest to calculated comparison population value (26 318 for this example). Use the sprocket combinations in the corresponding rows (29-tooth driver and 27-tooth driven for this example) to achieve desired population (28 000 for this example). |
